It's easy to overlook the importance of your pillows to getting a good nights sleep. Good pillows though are just as important as good mattresses. The right size of pillow for your bed is usually one that matches your mattress size. For a king sized mattress you should be getting king sized pillows for example. If you prefer to sleep with more than one pillow though you could get a number of next size down pillows. For example some queen or even standard pillows for a king mattress. Next consider how you sleep. If you're a back sleeper, you'll want a flat pillow. But if you're a side or stomach sleeper, support for your neck is critical. Check the pillow's description to make sure you're getting the right one.

A very important consideration is the type of filling you prefer. A foam pillow will hold its shape and provide better support (so good for side and stomach sleepers). A down pillow will squish to what ever shape you like and will have a very soft feel. To compromise, try a pillow with a foam core and an outer layer of down.

Finally of course there is the question of budget. Pillows come in a huge range of prices. A cheap foam pillow can be had for as little as $5. A top quality down one might set you back over $100. Generally you get what you pay for though. Just like the bed itself, you'll be spending a lot of time with your pillow and how well you sleep (or not) can make or break your day. So it makes sense to invest as much as you can reasonably afford in quality pillows.
